Nickname for Joachim

As you can imagine, Joachim is not a very easy name for people here. It’s not really an easy name in the US, either, and Joachim is quite used to the look of panic when he introduces himself sometimes.

But here, it’s just not possible.

In Chichewa, consanant and vowel sounds pretty much have to alternate. So, Amanda works okay. Even my Chichewa teacher’s name, Alick, gets mispronounced as Alicki, becuase all words in Chichewa end in a vowel.

So, we are looking for a nickname for Joachim. He vetoed Jo (pronounced “Yo”) because he had a great aunt named that. He also vetoed JoBenny. He is suggesting Jim, Jack, or Dave, but I don’t really like any of them for him.
